Felix Scott
I am an undergraduate mathematics student from Australia in my fourth (and final) year, currently studying at the University of Queensland. Here is my CV .
Research Interests
My research interests lie in the representation theory of Lie algebras, with a particular focus on infinite-dimensional examples such as Kac–Moody algebras and their affine subfamily. These algebras extend the classical theory of semisimple Lie algebras and play a central role in mathematical physics, most notably in the study of conformal field theories.
Tutoring
In addition to my studies in mathematics, I have a strong passion for teaching. I am currently employed as a tutor at UQ, where I have taught the following courses:
- MATH1052: Multivariate Calculus & Ordinary Differential Equations (2024, 2025; Lead tutor in 2025)
- MATH1061: Discrete Mathematics I (S2, 2025)
- MATH1050: Mathematical Foundations II (S1, 2025)
- MATH2100: Applied Mathematical Analysis (S2, 2024)
About Me
Mathematics is a large part of my life, but I have other interests outside my studies:
- I play guitar, both electric and acoustic, and I collect guitars, amplifiers, and pedals.
- I enjoy reading, particularly ethical philosophy and philosophy of religion. My favourite author is Peter Singer.
- I love music and enjoy discovering new artists. Recently I’ve been into J.J. Cale, Django Reinhardt, and Billy Strings; my all-time favourites include John Mayer, RHCP, U2, Dire Straits, The Church, and The Smiths.
